Create a stylish tech border in a few simple steps! Here's how:
This technique is used by many, so save the ripping accusations as im sure you can find one close to this tutorial elsewhere. Images are Copyright Purity 04 First, start off with your document, create a new layer and fill it in with black. ![]() Next, grab the polygon lasso tool ![]() and use it to create a nice design for your border (holding shift creates straight lines) here is how mine turned out: ![]() next, select the inverse (ctrl-shift-I) and press delete. Now you should have a black base for your border. ![]() right click your border layer and go to blending options and use the following settings: Drop shadow-- 75% Inner shadow- 55% Outer Glow-- 10% Inner Glow-- 25% Bevel and Emboss-- Depth, 100 and size 0 and soften 0. Satin (optional)-- 30$ at 20 degrees and with a 10 distance and 15 size. Color overlay (optional)-- I used white, choose some light color and set the mode to lighten with opacity around 50 or lower. Gradient overlay (optional)-- 50% at 90 degrees. Stroke-- Black, size- 1px. Mess with the opacity of the border if you don't want it to stand out too much. Also, if you want a transparent look like in my sig, set the border's layer mode to soft light. your border should look something like this: ![]() The final step is pimping out your border. Use the eliptical and rectangle marquee, as well the polygon lasso tool can come in useful too. Cut out parts of the border.. Circles, lines, squares, whatever you want. Now you are done and have a sweet border to show off ! this is how mine turned out: ![]() hope you enjoyed reading. thx. -------------------- ![]() |
