creating a logo in a few minutes, photoshop tutorial

this tutorial will teach you how to make a nice logo for your company/community
with the use of photoshop shapes

1. Open a new document with the dimensions you want your logo to be, ill just use 300x300

2. Fill the background in your desired color, i used cook

3. Select the shape tool () if everythings alright up in your screen should now be displayed the same an is the image
without the stuff on the total right

click on the red circeled icon then your screen should look like this



then click the blue circeled arrow next to the icon now search for a shape that you like to have as a logo (but offcourse with alot of extra's on it) , i will use the flame you also see in the last image

4. Drag it over your document on a size you wan't it to be (you can't change the size without getting bad quality later but you can change it's place)

5. Now select the pen tool ()

rightclick in your canvas and select make selection...

then in the screen you get set it the same as these setting:



now you should have a selection of your shape

6. Now select the marquee tool (), then select your background layer and rightclick on the canvas>layer via copy
you now have your shape now we come to thestyle of your shape

7. change your logo to a color u like
then rightclick on the logo shape's layer and select blending options just mess around a bit till you have something u like this is what i used:

Inner shadow:


Outer glow:


Bevel and emboss:


Gradient overlay:


Patterns overlay:


and my result:


looking pretty good already huh

now only the text remains this can be on a hard way or on an easy way ill just do an easy way but in the final other examples there ae also harder ones

8. Select the text tool and draw a text box now just do with the text whatever you like be creative
this is what i did very simple but nice:


now you have yourelves a logo this logo is used alot on our forum as you can see

i do what it says then i get a white thing of the object but i cant color it or anything

thats weird firezip must be your settings btw this tut's on pixel2life now aswell

What version PS do you have?

looks gd, i only wished ps 5.0 was as gd as that
